Poreč veterinarians are a shining example of humanity, especially when it comes to caring for our furry friends. The staff of the veterinary hospital and two clinics deserve special recognition for their selfless contributions and willingness to help save the lives of these small creatures.
Their dedication and care for squirrels not only save lives but also remind us of the importance of compassion and helping in our world.
1. Veterinary Hospital Poreč
Led by Mr. sc. Branko Jurić, dr. med. vet., the Veterinary Hospital Poreč showed great heart when the residents of the Home for the Elderly in Poreč recently found three baby squirrels left without their mother, exposed to hunger and thirst. Despite it being a holiday, a non-working day, Dr. Jurić opened the doors of his clinic and provided a dose of milk formula to feed the babies, and lent us a hamster cage that served as a safe temporary home in the following days.
To personally ensure that the orphaned squirrels were well taken care of, Dr. Jurić visited us at our home, so the squirrels wouldn’t have to endure the additional stress of traveling to the hospital. We thank him from the bottom of our hearts.

2. Veterinary Clinic Vet Centar in Stancija Portun
When we brought Zubić Vila (Tooth Fairy), a young squirrel with dental malocclusion, from the forest to the Vet Centar clinic in Stancija Portun, we were received by Andreja Zović, dr. med. vet.
The improper growth of teeth made it difficult for our little forest friend to eat and endangered her life. During the first visit, the overgrown tooth was successfully removed. Unfortunately, the second visit did not have a positive outcome, as the other teeth were so deformed that feeding became impossible. Even resuscitation could not save our dear pet. Nevertheless, we are grateful to Andreja Zović and the Vet Centar team for their help. Their kindness and dedication were extremely valuable to us.
Thank you for supporting us in our attempt to ease Zubić Vila's survival. She was loved and cared for and held on as long as she could. Now she is in squirrel heaven, full of hazelnuts, watching us from the highest branch.

3. Veterinary Practice AVA FIZIO VET in Vrsar
Under the leadership of Ava Vukajlović, dr. med. vet., AVA FIZIO VET warmly welcomed our then very ill Mrvica (Bubi). It was the first time we took one of the squirrels from Poreč's Squirrel Forest to a vet. Ava’s readiness to provide help and care in times of crisis was also invaluable to us.

Their dedication and compassion are a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of kindness. We are deeply grateful for their support and tireless efforts in caring for our furry friends.
